When I started my design business full time almost a year ago I worked from the table in our breakfast nook. At that time I didn't think we had any room in our home for me to have my own office- we have a slightly small house. But the mess (papers, tile samples, paint decks) started piling up. Not that I don't like dining with tile and paint decks, it was just getting a little out of hand. We had two guest bedrooms upstairs, and lets just be honest we NEVER have guest over. Probably because I'm ALWAYS in the middle of a renovation project and they are afraid they'll get put to work. So I made the executive decision to turn one of our guest rooms into the Plum Pretty design headquarters and my very own FARMHOUSE style office.
I specialize in farmhouse design so of course my office would fit that style. I started by shiplapping the entire room- which happens to be my first room thats completely shiplapped and I LOVE IT!! Check out my easy DIY Faux Shiplap Tutorial -{HERE}. I removed the out dated ceiling fan and swapped it out for white chippy farmhouse chandelier. The only furniture I have for the room so far is a chair and desk {All the furniture is linked at the bottom of this post}. I still need to find some storage solutions- so it's still a project in the works. But that didn't stop me from decorating it for Christmas. A space never has to be completed to enjoy. Kind of like life; if we wait for everything to be perfect before we take time to enjoy it, we will never get to enjoy it. Having the space decorated has been nice while finishing up my last few projects of the year- it feels so inspiring.
I couldn't think of a better holiday or season to debut my little office! So here it is with my simple Christmas decor. The Christmas decor might just stay up a few weeks after Christmas. I will keep you updated as I continue to finish this space and a completed blog post will come as I finish the space.
Today is my last "working" day for Plum Pretty for the 2016 year. I am taking time off for Christmas and the New Year to spend time with my loved ones. God has truly blessed me this year and I am beyond thankful for the opportunities that have been presented to me. I started out the year not even needing a true space to create in now I have an office and a 2017 calendar that is quickly filling up. This journey has been up and down and even a few loopty loops, but I am so thankful for this season of my business and for you to be following along.
I am truly blessed by the best clients, readers, and followers. I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
