September 1st, 2015 I officially launched my business Plum Pretty Decor & Design. So today is my little businesses one-year birthday!
First I want to thank EACH & EVERY person who has supported me, believed in me, and followed this crazy journey of mine. One year ago I would have never believed I would be where I am now. Seriously! To me, I was just this small town girl, with a really big dream of owning her own business.
Well guess what? I made some of those dreams a reality this year, and I now have even bigger dreams.
The girl behind the business... and the cake!? Yes, I baked a cake for this one year celebration. {Which I might eat while drinking champagne out of a tea cup. No champagne flutes, but I have an endless supply of antique tea cups. It's a celebration...right!?}
I could have put on a cute dress for these pictures... Heck I could have even put on makeup. But this right here is a true representation of the girl behind this business. No makeup, my Plum Pretty tee, gym shorts, and a ball cap. I spend most of my days running around, at installs/walk throughs, at the warehouse {saying I have a warehouse it still crazy to me}, and sitting behind this computer. I'm lucky if I get time to brush my hair. I do dress up and wear makeup for important business meetings. I'm not always a hot mess.
Running a business is hard work- and I love every minute of it! Even when I'm in tears and just want to give up. Those moments help ground this dream of mine. And yes, I actually have those moments. But those are the moments you don't see on my pretty Instagram feed... But after all we do live in REAL life and not on the small squares of our Instagram. But the girl behind this business is fueled by passion and love for what she does!
Over this past year I took my business FULL TIME. I learned to brand, represent, and establish a business. I created and launched my own website and blog. I traveled all over to antique shows selling my antique and vintage finds. I met so many amazing people. I grew my inventory to the point I needed a warehouse. I joined a local group of fellow business owners. I attended a blogging conference. I made a lot of "big girl" business decisions. But most of all I learned how important it is to have heart behind what you do!
I have big dreams for Plum Pretty and dreams take time. And I love where this first year has landed me!
I have decided to highlight some of my most memorable moments from this year.
The day I launched my website and blog:
The time I sold an antique buffet and upholstered chairs to Sheryl Crow!
The time I attended Joanna Gaines' furniture line launch at Furniture Market and chatted with her and Chip.
Getting a Warehouse!
Meeting and showing beside my biggest inspiration- Miss Mustard Seed
Attending Haven!
I literally can not even believe it! I get to share my business, my life, and all my passion with so many of you through this blog I started just 1 year ago. I never even imagined people would even care about what I had to say or what my latest home project was. Below is my mission statement.
Mission: To Inspire Others To Have A Loving, Purposeful, Functional, And Beautiful Home.
I wrote this mission statement at the very beginning and it's still my mission today- a year later. I hope that thru these virtual pages of my life I am able to inspire others. I hope I bring love, purpose, function and beauty to those who read!

With love,
