The number one question I get asked across all my social media outlets is "Where is your bed from," or "Did you make your bed." So I decided to give y'all a full review with all the information including where to purchase. Bless your heart if you thought I crafted this bed. I have not the skills nor the finger power for that deep tufting. I have tried my hand at tufting/upholstery and its definitely no easy task. Lots of blood, sweat, and tears!
A little less than a year ago we decided to upgrade from a queen to a king size bed. After all we do share our bed with a 115 pound baby named Bella. I was tired of fighting for cover and hanging off the edge. So our first investment was a new mattress. This was seriously life changing guys! I went from restless nights on a lumpy wore out mattress from our college apartment to what I would imagine sleeping on a cloud felt like. If you have a wore out mattress, get a new one!! Your body and new rested self will thank you.
However going and lounging on mattresses was the easy part. You know kind of like the fairy tale Goldilocks- you simply find the one thats just right. But selecting a new bed was somewhat of a challenge. As a designer when you decorate your own home you second guess yourself and ponder on every single detail.
These were the six beds I started with, and its so funny to me now how I ended up choosing one not even on my original list. But long story short I originally decided on the bed in the top left corner, and it is made by Hooker Furniture. I knew my favorite local furniture store Furnitureland South carried Hooker Furniture and I wanted to see the bed in person. So we went and right when I walked into the Hooker Furniture showroom my eyes were instantly drawn to this. I had never even seen this bed before and it was the perfect mixture of linen and wood.
They didn't even have the bed I originally came to view in the showroom, but I really don't think that even mattered at this point. But of course I wanted to think about it and make sure I was wasn't making an impulse buy- I mean I didn't even get to see the other bed in person. My sweet sweet husband who knows me way better than I think I know myself knew this was the one and wanted to order it that day!
And if you have been following me since the beginning you know I turned to you guys for help on my Instagram by posting this picture. And the response was 99% option #2. Sometimes its best to go with your gut instinct, but it is always nice to have reassurance. So that Monday I called my design consultant and made one of our first "big" furniture purchases.
It took almost 5 weeks for us to get the bed because it is a custom order item. But the wait was so worth it! Getting it inside the house was a difficult task, I swear that headboard must weigh 400 pounds. But we got it inside, up the stairs (moving it only inches at a time), and in our bedroom. It was super easy to put together and only took about 30 mins with standard tools.
So now after having the bed for almost a year here is my full review:
- The bed is so well made and crafted. Made from solid wood and perfectly stained/whitewashed for an amazing time worn appearance.
- It is less yellow than pictures from the manufacture. Mine actually has more of a grayish white look. But this also has to do with the paint color of your walls. Mine is against a shiplap wall painted in SW-Alabaster and the remaining walls are painting in SW-Amazing Gray.
- Our king size mattresses fit right in with little to no gap anywhere around the edges.
- I have had no issues with the fabric tufting area. It stills looks just like the day we got it.
- Matching bedding is super easy because of how neutral the bed is.
- I feel like we 100% made the right decision and this is a bed we will love forever.
Here are some sources for the bed:
