Happy Monday friends! I recently had the opportunity to work with HomeGoods on updating my living room. You can read more about the design process, my shopping trip, and how I pulled the design together over on their "design happy blog" by CLICKING HERE.
I still can't believe they wanted to work with little ole me, and I may have questioned the lady in the email a couple times because I thought it was either a prank or spam. Remember last week when I talked about how my 2018 had started out rocky and I had been praying a lot about my business? Well I took this as another sign that I was working in the right direction. If you missed that story you can catch up by CLICKING HERE.

I had so much fun designing this space, way more fun than I'm having finishing up taxes this week. I might know how to pull a room together but when it comes to a years worth of numbers I'm lost.
So let's chat about something I actually know something about- design. I've recently felt myself being pulled to a more modern farmhouse way of decorating. I'm loving clean lines with simple farmhouse touches. You can most definitely have modern elements with a farmhouse feel. And that's exactly the look I went for with my living room update.
I kept the mirror I used with my Christmas decor as well as the black metal candle sticks- I just added a smaller candlestick to each side. You might notice the mirror I linked for this is not black. That is because I spray painted it matte black. You know me and spray paint.. The frame pops right off making it super easy to paint whatever color suites your fancy. Why go through the trouble you might ask? Because this mirror was more than half the price of black round mirrors I found. I'm all about creating the look for less.
All I really added to the mantel was stacks of old books and some potted plants. The black and green really creates a nice contrast against the crisp white shiplap. You can pick up old books at antique stores, the antiqued pots I found at HomeGoods, and the REAL house plants are from Home Depot. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on keeping them alive.
This trunk was another item I found at HomeGoods. I was so surprised to find it, because it looks so old and authentic- and this is coming from someone who deals in antiques. You might notice I swapped out my chicken crate coffee table for the new trunk. I love this even more because it has usable storage.
On top of the trunk I layered more old books and more potted house plants. You might be noticing a little bit of a theme here... I love old books and I try to incorporate them anywhere I can. Which is odd because I honestly do not enjoying reading books. So I probably own one of the biggest book collections for someone who doesn't really read.
So you can see by adding a couple staple pieces and sprinkling in some small decor items I was able to get a whole new look in my living room for spring. And you all know how HomeGoods works, not all inventory is the same, and it's constantly changing. So I've tired my very best to link similar items to those that I found {I linked all products at the bottom}. But to me that's all the fun! Going into the store and designing based on the selection available.
It was truly such an honor to work with HomeGoods on this design. For more info on the experience, more pictures of my space, and all things that make you HomeGoods happy check out my guest post by CLICKING HERE. Now I'm just so ready for spring to arrive here in NC.
